Help reduce unused bottles

Recently a group of individuals formed a Practical Process Improvement Team (PPI) to get a better understanding of why coolers filled with bottles have been returned to the Lab unused. While we understand that there are circumstances beyond your control such as weather related issues, canceled projects, etc., we would like to offer a few ideas that might reduce the amount of unused bottles coming back to us.

Did you know that?

  • The cost of a single cooler with unused bottles/supplies can cost as much as $60.00
  • The shipping method when returning unused coolers of bottles should always be sent by the most economical means. Please contact your Client Service Representative (CSR) for options.
  • Breaking up large orders can help to reduce costs in the long run by ordering smaller groups as needed as compared with stockpiling larger quantities of bottles.
  • Communication with your Client Service Representative (CSR) up front can help clarify the quantity of coolers/bottles that you will receive based on the parameters that have been requested. Often times, there is surprise at the amount of bottles that are sent due to misunderstanding on both ends.
  • Clients performing sampling in New Jersey should keep in mind the “4-day rule” regulation for storage of bottles on site. Especially for this state, it is important to closely communicate with your CSR to be sure that the appropriate amount of bottles are ordered in relation to the length of time that the project will last.

Please contact your CSR at 717-656-2300 if you would like to discuss this further or have any questions.
